The AHA PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) course teaches all levels of healthcare providers how to recognize and intervene in cases of respiratory distress, shock, and cardiac arrest in pediatric patients. The skills and knowledge learned in this course enables healthcare providers to offer initial appropriate lifesaving interventions until the child can be transferred to an advanced life support provider.
Updated to reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, PEARS is designed for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), medical and surgical nurses, school nurses and any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill infants and children.
The PEARS course is appropriate for BLS and ALS providers.
